our daughter tracy jardine gave us a fantastic gift for Christmas - an olive tree from Italy. today our olive oil arrived and already I've tasted some. wow. we are so thrilled and will report back with a gathering of friends using some oil for supper salads. but now I wanted to tell you how we love Italy - our son married his italian born bride there and we were all invited from Kamloops (family that is) to Bosana Del Grapa near Venus for the wedding - what a lovely country Italy is. keep up this lovely tradition. Hugs from a wanna be vineyard owner. Ruth and Glen Jardine.

Dear Dolce Vita Diaries, after reading your post on a typical day in your life, I am reminded of how much I miss living in Greece. Italy is so similar, and I remember doing the same thing in the mornings, going to the only cafe around for a perfect cup of coffee. I felt like I had entered into my grandmothers garden. It was a wonderful feeling of comfort and confidence with the information you provide. Her home is surrounded by olive trees as far as the eye can see. I shall be sure to return for another treat of your wisdom. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers PT

Hello from the South, the DEEP South...Calabria. We too are olive farmers (100% organic). We are an Italian-American couple. I am the American half. I worked in telephony in the States before moving to Italy and my husband is a physician here when he is not on the tractor busy farming.

Being two novices, we learn by asking and, of course, trial and error. We have about 450 olive trees and 200 citrus trees and also have two water springs on our 16 acre property. I would love to ask you tons of questions about how you go about marketing your oil and if you have thought to market to cosmetics suppliers...and lots more questions...! We have lost about 6 trees in the last year due to some sort of illness and now we are trying to figure out what to do. At the moment I am researching the insect contribution to our 'organic' farm. If you have any tips, I would love to hear them!
